MUST HAVE: A SUEDE COAT

Lo mejor que te puede pasar «fashionísticamente» hablando, es que una de tus mayores obsesiones se convierta en tendencia (gracias gurús de la moda). Aunque lleva ya como tendencia bastante tiempo, el ante (o suede) está ya por todas partes. Sin embargo, hay algunas piezas cuya calidad deja bastante que desear (llegando a la verguenza ajena), como los modelos hechos con «suedette» o «falso ante», que es de hecho la capa anterior de piel al ante de toda la vida (es decir, una versión más fina y de menor calidad). En cualquier caso, si vais a comprar una sola cosa esta temporada, que sea una chaqueta de ante.

The best thing that can happen to you from a fashion perspective is that one of your biggest obsessions becomes the main trend of the season (and I’ve been lucky this time around). Even though it’s been around for quite a while, the suede trend is now mostly unavoidable. I’ve seen many «wannabe suede» pieces that almost made me gag (let’s say suedette pieces are the worst that ever happened to leathers), but either way, if you’re going to buy one thing this season, let it be a proper suede coat.

El estilo que más me gusta es el tipo trench, los hay de muchos colores pero yo apuesto por los neutros o tonos berry. Por ejemplo este de Mango o este de Asos (que por cierto ya me he comprado). Me gustan especialmente con pitillos, pantalones vaqueros de campana o culottes pero realmente pegan con todo.

My favourite style is definitely the suede trench, I’ve seen many colors around but I personally prefer the neutral or berry toned ones. This one from Mango looks like pure butter, and this one from Asos (which I already bought…) are absolutely stunning. I like to wear it with skinny and flared jeans or culottes, but they go with everything really.

También he visto versiones cortas más modernas como esta de Urban Outfitters (dos tendencias en una, flecos y ante) o esta de Zara (que también tengo, como pudisteis ver en mi Snapchat) que es mas setentera. Estos modelos son un poco más difíciles de combinar pero visten muchísimo cualquier outfit sencillo. Con vaqueros o minifalda quedan genial, o con pantalones de campana (especialmente negros) como llevé yo la de Zara la última vez.

I’ve also seen shorter versions like this one from Urban Outfitters (two trends in one, fringe and suede) or this one from Zara (which I also have as I showed you in Snapchat) which has more of a 70s vibe. These two styles are a bit more difficult to wear but they make any outfit look smarter straight away. I love them worn with jeans or A-line miniskirts, or even with super flared black jeans which is how I wore the Zara jacket the last time.

Lo bueno del ante es que abriga bastante sin llegar a agobiar, por lo que es una prenda de entretiempo perfecta y muy versátil; además es una tendencia que siempre volverá, por lo que es una inversión practicamente necesaria e inevitable. O así lo veo yo desde el punto de vista totalmente subjetivo y partidista de una fashionista, anyway.

The great thing about suede is that it’s pretty warm but not too warm, which makes it the perfect transitional piece. This is also a trend that will keep coming back over the years, so it’s basically an unavoidable (and must do) investment. Or at least that’s how I see it – although I’m pretty biased and brainwashed by the fashion industry by now so can’t really say I’m being objective). Either way, look at the pretty coats. They need you.
